BASTIA (Beavis) 61 beat PSG (Super Zlatan) 55
This match was one of several where captain choice made the difference this week, with Beavis’s choice of Demba Ba giving him 18 points to SZ’s 6 for the disappointing Eden Hazard.
BORDEAUX (Ryan) 57 beat AJACCIO (Ms Red19) 30
A comfortable win for the Kiwi, as good points from Baines, Berbatov and Santi Cazorla were more than enough to see off Ms Red19, who had Dyer sent off and Clyne on the bench,
BREST (Shipstontrev) 51 beat VALENCIENNES (!Bazzinga!) 35
Shipstontrev made it five wins out of five thanks to good defensive points and HBA, although benching Fletcher was clearly a poor decision. Ridgewell’s cleanie was the only crumb of comfort for America’s Bazzinga.
LILLE (In Like Flynn) 62 beat LYON (FC Borcelona) 60
A really tight match here, and ILF’s faith in Southampton pair Lambert and Clyne helped him get away with committing the cardinal sin of benching Baines. In the end, FC Borcelona’s 4 point hit proved the difference, despite him giving Ba the armband.ILF has now risen to fourth in the Ligue 1 table.
LORIENT (Dr. Ennet) 66 beat NICE (Lateriser) 59
Another win for the Swede, whose points from Lambert, Baines and Santi Cazorla helped him to a narrow win over the unfortunate Lateriser, who had both Lescott and Rafael but still couldn’t get the right result. Still, at a hugely impressive 1,231st overall he may not be losing too much sleep over it. Dr Ennet climbs to third in the Ligue 1 table.
NANCY (coldplay) 41 beat REIMS (Mahfreems) 40
The closest and lowest-scoring tie of the week, with both players taking a 4 point hit. In the end the supporting points for Nolan and Cech outweighed those for Clyne and HBA, keeping coldplay second in the Ligue 1 table.
EVIAN (King Eric) 60 beat MARSEILLE (Fratboy) 36
A straightforward win for the American, with decent points from captaining RVP, as well as Baines and Berbatov giving him a 24 point margin over Fratboy, who had Clark sent off.
ST ETIENNE (Chrissy Waddle) 64 beat MONTPELLIER (Gervinho’s Forehead) 35
A week’s highest 29 point win here, with Chrissy Waddle’s points from Baines and Fletcher and HBA being the principal reason for his success. GF also had HBA, but that was all he had to be pleased about really.
SOCHAUX (Chazza) 55 beat TROYES (kaz) 52
Another close match here, with Chazza’s Bale, Berba and Ben Arfa scores being matched by kaz’s Lambert and Baines. However, Nathan Dyer’s sending off meant more frustration for the winless kaz. Bale proved to be a major differential in Ligue 1 this week.
TOULOUSE (Heco87) 67 beat RENNES (Sarnab Wazza) 62
The highest-scoring tie of the week saw Heco’s faith in the Magpies rewarded with big points from captain Demba Ba, as well as useful contributions from Lambert and Baines. Sarnab will rightly feel unlucky to have played Heco87 this week, as her picks of Baines, Fletcher and Santi Cazorla would have comfortably beaten several other managers, including the current top two.
