Ligue 1 GW22 Review – Shipstontrev

9 managers used their Winter Wildcard this week as the Chelsea & Southampton DGW appeared on the horizon, with Juan Mata the standout choice for the armband.

BASTIA (Aditya) 95 beat ST. ETIENNE (Chrissy Waddle) 64

New boy Aditya used his Wildcard to great effect as he stormed to victory over Chrissy. Carlos Tevez joined with DGW trio Mata(C), Azpilicueta, and Rickie Lambert to rack up the points. Chrissy took a 4 point hit, and Mata(C), Luiz, Puncheon and RVP left him a long way short.

NANCY (Coldplay) 95 beat LORIENT (Dr. Ennet) 75

Pakistan v Sweden here, as Coldplay made light of his 4 point hit with a comfortable win over Dr. Ennet. Mata(C). Tevez, Cech all brought Coldplay useful points, and each of his three defenders had a clean sheet. Dr. Ennet also had Mata(C), but the supporting points from Luiz, RVP and Fellaini were not high enough.

TOULOUSE (Heco87) 94 beat REIMS (Mahfreems) 68

At least partly thanks to his Wildcard, Heco is one of just three unbeaten managers in Season 2 with this result. The Newcastle fan’s team included DGW players Mata (C), Hazard, Ivanovic and Lambert, whilst Palace fan Mahfreems picked Mata(C), Luiz and Clyne to no avail.

AJACCIO (Spike) 81 beat EVIAN (King Eric) 77

Thanks to the Chelsea-Southampton game, Spike just pipped his American opponent in this close encounter. Eric’s choices of Mata(C), Tevez, RVP, Bale, Zabaleta and Davies just failed to overcome Spike’s picks, which included Mata(C), Azpilicueta, RVP, Bale Fellaini and Russell Martin.

NICE (Lateriser) 89 beat BORDEAUX (Ryan) 70

Lateriser used his Wildcard to good effect with this straightforward win over Ryan. His choices included Mata(C), Luiz, Clyne, Mignolet and RVP. Ryan was one of the few to go for Ba as captain, and Tevez, RVP, Bale and Fellaini were no help to him here. Lateriser is now top of the Season 2 league table, and has also gone up to an impressive 176th in the FPL overall rankings.

VALENCIENNES (!Bazzinga!) 89 beat LYON (FC Borcelona) 74

American Bazzinga’s Wildcard helped him overcome FCB, who took a 4 point hit. Bazzinga’s top scorers were Mata(C), Azpilicueta, Mignolet, RVP and Davies, whilst FCB had Mata(C), Mignolet, Bale, RVP and Luke Shaw.

BREST (Shipstontrev) 97 beat TROYES (kaz) 66

Shipstontrev achieved the highest score in the league this GW. His Wildcard allowed him to bring in Mata(C), Ba, Luiz, Lambert and Clyne to add to Puncheon, and the points from these six DGW players gave him a 31 point win over kaz, who had Mata(C) and Luiz. Shipstontrev moves to 4th in the Ligue 1 table ahead of a crunch game with Lateriser next week.

PSG (Super Zlatan) 94 beat LILLE (In Like Flynn) 64

SZ’s Wildcard picks were similar to those of Shipstontrev, althogh he chose Ba as captain rather than Mata. However he was able to beat his opponent by 30 points, not least because ILF did not pick Mata, even though he took a 4 point hit. SZ moves to second in the Ligue 1 Season 2 table, while ILF is at the bottom.

FACER (Montpellier) 78 beat SOCHAUX (Chazza) 64

Facer made it a hat trick of wins for the new boys after this victory over Chazza, again becuase of the Chelsea-Southampton game.. Chazza’s main points came from Mata(C), RVP and Fellaini, whilst Facer’s choice of Ba as captain was justified in the second game, as Mata, Lambert, Luiz and Clyne helped bring home his first win.

MARSEILLE (Fratboy) 66 beat RENNES (Sarnab Wazza) 40

The shock result of the week came in the lowest-scoring one. Fratboy used his Wildcard, but Sarnab took an 8 point hit. Fratboy’s top scorers were Mata, Ivanovic, RVP,Bale and Fellaini, with Ba as his captain. Sarnab chose the wrong captain in David Luiz, and his other picks, such as RVP, Bale and Fellaini were not enough, giving him a rare low score.

  1. nicely written :D. looking forward to your CL write-ups!

btw i’ve got a fun idea if you’re interested!

just have one suggestion which perhaps you could say something like: both had ___, ___, and ____. or both captained ____. or something like that. instead of repeating that both managers picked some of the same key players

  2. Fair point – at least it proves you read it! 😉

  3. A useful review as ever, cheers!
